So the NFL Network aired this brilliant (albeit bittersweet) production called “Sound FX.” They put microphones on numerous key participants in the Super Bowl, and then compiled all of this on-field footage. You can watch some of the footage here, and below you’ll see some of the best sound bites.
Seattle’s Earl Thomas, before the game: “We’re special, bro, they don’t make them like us. We’re not like everybody else. We know who we are, that’s why we’re so confident.”
Denver’s Champ Bailey, before the game: “They ain’t ready for us, they’re too confident, we’re the better team.”
Seattle’s Michael Robinson, before the game: “You don’t know when you’re ever going to get back to a place like this, man. I’ll tell you one thing, by any means necessary, we’re going home with that W.”
Denver’s Peyton Manning to center Manny Ramirez, after the snap snafu to start the game: “I called the snap count, you didn’t hear.”
Manning to coaches and players on bench: “I couldn’t hear anything. I called the cadence. (looks up in disgust)”
Denver coach John Fox: “Little louder than we thought, huh.”
Bailey, after getting beat by Doug Baldwin on a deep pass: “Good route boy.”
Denver’s Wes Welker, to the offense during the first half: “We’re the best (darn) offense to ever play this game, all right? We go to start showing it baby. Just go out there, play with your heart, do your assignment, we’ll be just fine.”
Seattle’s Richard Sherman, after a nice run by Percy Harvin: “Lord have mercy — it’s Percy.”
Sherman, after Harvin’s kick return: “That’s a bad boy! They don’t have a chance.”
Bailey, after Harvin’s kick return: “You got to be kidding me.”
Welker to Manning, with Denver down big in second half: “What was the score of that playoff game, Bills versus the Oilers?”
Sherman: “We gotta eat their heart!”
Sherman to Welker after an incomplete pass: “Don’t you ever say you want one-on-ones with us!”
Bailey, to teammate Tony Carter, on who should win MVP: “I just want to see a defensive player get it. The way they played, (expletive).”
